 Understanding Our Lens Options

When choosing new glasses, there are two parts to the process; 1) Choosing your frame, 2) Selecting the lenses. The lenses themselves can make a huge difference in comfort, clarity, durability, and appearance.

At The Optical Shop, we offer three main lens quality options, along with a range of tint and enhancement choices to customize your glasses to suit your lifestyle.

Our Lens Quality Options

Standard ~ $49

Our Standard Lenses are a simple, cost-effective option for everyday vision correction. These lenses provide clear vision and are suitable for many prescriptions. They do not include additional coatings or treatments. There are the basic, thickest lens option which is suita

ble for low strength prescriptions, or a basic pair of reading glasses. These are a 1.49 index lens/

Ultra (thinner with hardcoat) ~ $79

These lenses are thinner and lighter than standard lenses, creating a more comfortable and attractive finished pair of glasses. They include the hardcoat treatment which helps to improve the scratch resistance and durability for everyday wear. These too, are suitable for a low strength prescription. These are a 1.50 index lens.

Premium (extra thin) ~ $95

Our Premium lenses offer the highest level of comfort, quality, and performance. These lenses include multiple coatings which are hardcoat, anti-reflection, UV protection, and easy-clean, which are designed to be the most efficient and effective glasses for everyday use. These are suitable for all prescriptions, especially higher strength where something like a -9.00 or +6.00 sphere lens can look like it’s a -0.50 or +0.50 sphere! These are typically a 1.60, 1.67, or 1.74 index lens, depending on the strength of your prescription.
